If you like to snack between your meals, you can’t go wrong with low-sugar yogurts or cottage cheese, fresh fruit, pre-cooked meat, reduced fat cheese, raw nuts, low-carb protein bars or whole-grain crackers. The main thing to consider when picking any food or meal is your total daily calorie intake — you must consume fewer calories than you burn to shift your belly fat. If you don’t feel like you’re making progress, you’re probably eating too much and not exercising enough, so drop your calories a little and start training more.
If you are serious about your desire to lose belly fat, you need to stop indulging in junk food. That includes any type of fast-foods or convenience foods you buy. These foods are high in calories, saturated fats, trans fats, refined carbohydrates, salt and sugar and low on vitamins and minerals. They do not help you lose belly fat, but impede your efforts. It is incredibly difficult to reduce your calorie intake and eat high-calorie foods. Why? Because these foods are high in calories, but they are not as filling as they should be considering their high calorie content. Therefore, after eating junk food, you are hungry faster and end up overeating.
Some people just have a different distribution of fat on their body, so your fat might just collect around your midsection. Being skinny doesn’t necessarily mean being in shape either, so I would recommend working out to reduce your remaining body fat and build up your muscles.

Crunchy cruciferous vegetables are more thermogenic than other types of foods, meaning your body burns more calories digesting them, says Juan Carlos Santana, owner of the Institute of Human Performance. Incorporating these foods into your diet can help you boost calorie burn by the increased work your body will have to go through just digesting the food. “Ultimately this can help you decrease body fat,” he adds. Add strength training to your exercise regimen three times a week. Strength training builds muscles, which assist in fat loss. More metabolically active than fat, muscle raises the resting metabolism to increase calories burned. Increased caloric burn equates to weight loss. Furthermore, toned muscles change the shape of your body and improve your posture, making your belly appear flatter. Focus on completing eight to 10 exercises per strength session that target the abdominals, back, butt, chest, shoulders, arms and legs.
Naturally, the first step in finding out how to reduce belly fat starts with food. Eating real foods from nature, instead of fake foods found in packages or boxes, is one of the best (and easiest) things you can do for yourself and your loved ones. Real foods are the ones that humans have been eating for all of history: vegetables, fruits, seeds, clean meats and fish, legumes, and others grown in healthy, rich soils without any chemicals added.

A 10+ on your article. I wrote down items that I want to be sure to remember. Thank you. I have to lower my BMI from 39.9kg/m2 to less than 35BMI in order that the Orthopedic Surgeon will perform a total knee replacement. I TRULY don’t know how I let myself go. :[
Strongly encouraged, but not required. “The Flat Belly Diet” outlines an optional plan, including workout descriptions, intensity and duration. As you get older, your body changes how it gains and loses weight. Both men and women experience a declining metabolic rate, or the number of calories body needs to function normally. On top of that, women have to deal with menopause. “If women gain weight after menopause, it’s more likely to be in their bellies,” says Michael Jensen, MD, professor of medicine in the Mayo Clinic’s endocrinology division. In menopause, production of the hormones estrogen and progesterone slows down. Meanwhile, testosterone levels also start to drop, but at a slower rate. This shift in hormones causes women to hold onto weight in their bellies. The good news: you can fight this process. Read on.
Try a core class. Pilates, barre, core burning classes and some yoga styles focus on building your stomach and back muscles. Building these muscles through special exercises, in addition to weightlifting, will help you burn more fat each week.

1. Stop Doing Crunches. Crunches will strengthen your stomach muscles, but won’t burn the belly fat that covers your abs. Spot reduction is a myth. You’re wasting time & effort doing 200 daily crunches.
I started DRASTICALLY changing my diet about 3 years ago, eliminating dairy, wheat, and all sugar. While I made such changes to address underlying health issues, a very noticeable side effect was that I lost ~60lbs in a little over 8 months.
