Until my divorce I worked hard everyday managing the small farm, acreage, household, home-schooling 4 girls, errands, leading 4-H, teaching sunday school etc…my world collapsed, shortly after I found I had ground down my femur at the hip and needed a replacement, before I could do that I developed a perforated ulcer, suddenly from relative health to within a few years 2 major surgeries, then had surgery on one of my arthritic feet. Obviously, inflammation is something I don’t want but few seem to know anything about it and the causes, so I try to “keep it simple” and pay attention to how my joints feel after eating and added cartilage, glucosomine/MSM, nettle leaf, and cod liver oil capsules to my daily supplements. However, as the inactivity due to pain, continued to some degree after the surgeries I continued to gain weight, especially after I was starved after my ulcer surgery. My doctor said, “stop eating.” I know that most of the time I eat a very healthy diet so I eliminated the occasional ice cream, and reduced my carbs, keep it lean, lots of cooked frozen vegies, but what can one do if vigorous aerobic activity is difficult or some days to pull off? Can you help me to figure out how to get rid of the “fat belly” when aerobics is tough to do? Thank you
In addition structured exercise, commit to a lifestyle that’s physically active. Take up a hobby, such as dance or golf, that keeps you moving. Fidgeting as well as walking regularly also helps increase your daily calorie burn so you control belly fat.
Water retention induces a puffed belly. And as salt is something which is attracted to water, it contributes in gaining extra fat. To avoid this unnecessary fat, switch to salt-free seasonings like cayenne pepper and notice the difference on your own.
6. Keep bones strong. Osteoporosis can lead to fractured bones in your spine, causing you to slump. That shortens your abdominal cavity, giving your belly no place to go but out, says Willibald Nagler, MD, physiatrist in chief emeritus at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center in New York City. If you’re age 50 or over, be sure to get 1,200 mg of calcium every day from the foods you eat and/or from supplements. (If you’re age 50 or younger, 1,000 mg a day is the ticket.)
You must have noticed that some of your friends eat a lot of sugar-based foods, fried foods, or cold drinks. Yet, they manage to have a flat stomach, the reason being they have a very high metabolic rate. If your metabolism is not good, you may have a bloated stomach. Thyroid conditions, diabetes, and other medical conditions can be the reasons for slow metabolism.

When you add supposed “foods that burn belly fat” like avocados into the mix, you impede this process. As an example, avocados (which I love by the way – in moderation) contain over 300 calories, 90% of which are fat.
Fullness: Nutrition experts emphasize the importance of satiety, the satisfied feeling that you’ve had enough. You shouldn’t feel hungry on the 1,600-calorie-a-day Flat Belly Diet. MUFAs help slow digestion, keeping you feeling fuller for longer. And you’ll be eating lots of fiber, which staves off hunger.
Sunny side up, scrambled, hard-boiled, or fried—it doesn’t matter. A pan, spatula, and carton of eggs are all you need to fry some serious flab. Eggs are one of the best sources of choline, a major fat-burning nutrient that helps turn off the genes responsible for belly-fat storage. Bonus: eggs are a great source of lean protein, which can set the fat-burning pace for your entire day when eaten for breakfast. In a study of 21 men published in the journal Nutrition Research, half were fed a breakfast of bagels while half ate eggs. The egg group were observed to have a lower response to ghrelin, were less hungry three hours later and consumed fewer calories for the next 24 hours!
3. Prone Slider Toe-Ins: Go into a prone or plank position, your body should be horizontal or parallel to the floor. The legs should be straight and toes should be in. You have to use a slider to move back and forth. This is best done at a gym where all gym equipment is available.
Find out your body type. If you are a mesomorph you will be able to boast amazing ab definition. If you are an ectomorph, you should be relatively light, as you have a light frame and are lightly muscled. Ectomorphs should be able to lose belly fat relatively easily, but will have to put a lot of effort in gaining muscle mass and ab definition. Endomorphs will struggle the most to lose belly fat, and will have to work hard to achieve defined abs. Use the body type calculator to determine your body type.
Include flaxseed oil into fruit juices or smoothies when you’re trying to diet to lose belly fat. The Omega 3-rich ingredient is high in fiber to reduce constipation and water retention and has been shown to increase metabolism to help burn belly fat.
3. V-Sit Ups are one of my favourite exercises for my abs because it is quite challenging. The V sit-ups work on the upper and lower abs regions and you also have to focus on your balance to keep the abs engaged at the same time. It’s a great strength builder for your core.

Hi Jason, I am a 50 year old female, and have just spent 3 hours viewing your videos. I will be talking to my doctor this week and hope to get stated soon. I’ve had a Kidney transplant, and am taking prednisone as part of my anti-rejection therapy. This is a steriod, and it makes it hard for me to loss weight. I have been holding on to 40 pounds since my transplant March of 2011. Prednisone is known for redistributing the fat cells to the middle area. I hope this works for me. thanks for all the great info! Char

8. Do it at home. Here’s a variation of the previous exercise that doesn’t require gym equipment: Sit up straight in a firm, armless chair. Place your hands on the sides of the chair in front of your hips. Tightening your abs and supporting yourself with your hands, slowly pull your knees up toward your chest. Keep your lower back against the chair back. Hold and then slowly lower.
Try more intense sprints with shorter rest intervals. Warm up for 5 to 10 minutes, then alternate 1-minute sprints with 1-minute rest periods, and repeat each interval 10 to 20 times during your workout.
6. Eat More. Eating tons of healthy foods won’t make you fat. Especially not if you exercise 2-3x/week. Starving yourself is the number 1 nutritional mistakes. Healthy nutrition is important for 3 reasons:
We honestly need some visceral fat surrounding or organs to act like a cushion and protection for them, but most people are packing on way too much and it’s going to give them ore health problems down the line. Even taking skinfold measurements are not going to be able to measure visceral fat and that’s one of the reasons why doing skinfold measurements for body fat percentage isn’t the most effective technique.
Take a medium glass and fill it with hot water. Add the juice of 1 lemon and 1 tablespoon of honey to it. Drink this after waking up in the morning as a first thing. Practice this remedy on a regular basis and you will certainly notice the difference.
Overall, men tend to store fat in the abdominal area more than women do, thanks to sex hormone differences. Before age 40, women tend to store most of their fat in the hips, thighs, and buttocks. After 40, as estrogen levels drop, body fat is redistributed to the abdomen.
This would be considered a traditional approach to weight loss. For those of you interested in crunching nutrition numbers, the high-carbohydrate diet contained 65 percent of calories from carbohydrates, 20 percent of calories from fat, and 15 percent of calories from protein.
Several key factors are to blame for such high rates of unhealthy weight gain around the belly (visceral fat), obesity and becoming overweight, including less activity, eating more processed foods, dining out more, lack of sleep, toxicity and increased stress.
