Want to lose that belly fat? In your dreams! Seriously, though: a good night’s sleep is one of the best ways to get rid of that extra fat around your waist for good. Among the 60,000 women participating in the Nurses’ Health Study, those who snoozed for fewer than five hours a night were at the greatest risk of becoming obese and gaining 30 or more pounds over the course of the 16-year study period when compared to those who slept for seven or more hours.

Sleep adequately- Lack of sleep is one of the prominent causes for belly fat accumulation. When you don’t sleep, you crave for sugar and fatty foods. It also spikes your cortisol hormone which makes you insensitive to insulin. As a result, you lose your body’s bio-rhythm. So, sleep well.
Hot foods can be of a high temperature or spicy (or both). Hot food takes longer to eat and with added bonuses such as fiber and water content that make you feel full. This is why oatmeal can be found in many lists, or homemade soups (broth based and not cream based).
Bacteria present in the gut have a very crucial role in the digestion of food. Its imbalance can actually disrupt the digestion system leading to a puffed belly. Indulge in probiotics like Greek yogurt in order to meet those sugar cravings without gaining extra pounds. It helps in improving intestinal mobility and thus eases digestion.

Hi Adrian, I’ve been trying to lose my last 10 lbs which is all in my belly. I started taking a fat burner , up my proteins big time because I fear losing my curves and butt while trying to lose belly fat in the process. I do cardio and weight training 3-5 days a week, yet I’m still not losing belly fat after 4 weeks. My weight stays the same. I don’t bother keeping a food log and therefore doesn’t know how many calories I’m eating although I eat very healthy. I’m afraid of eating too little so as to not lose my curves and butt. Should I still keep a food log and count calories? Is that going to help me with losing my belly fat even though I’m afraid of losing my curves?
Lunch: Easy Burritos. Making a simple burrito is a great way to have a simple healthy lunch filled with protein and fiber. All you need to do is fill a whole grain tortilla with beans, spinach leafs, and a small amount of cheese and heat in the microwave. Garnish with as much salsa as you like, but be sure to check that your salsa choice has no added sugars.
Consume an adequate amount of lean protein. Lean proteins — which include animal proteins like chicken breast and fish as well as plant-based proteins like tofu and beans — are what make up the majority of your muscle. Without enough dietary protein each day, you may begin to lose muscle mass as you lose weight, which can slow your metabolism. Protein, like fats and fiber, is a nutrient that is slowly digested, helping to regulate appetite and control hunger. Include a source of lean protein at each meal to help you feel satisfied and avoid cravings.
“Pouring a glass of wine as large as Olivia Pope’s to watch her on “Scandal” is a mistake,” offers Bedwell. And boy, does she have that one right. “The recommended alcohol consumption for women is one (5-ounces, so much less than a typical Olivia pour) glass per day, with good reason. Each glass has roughly 120 calories, and your body burns calories from alcohol first to get it out of your system as fast as possible. That means any calories you consume from food get put on the back-burner, making it harder to shed unwanted pounds,” she explains. “Not to mention that alcohol tends to stimulate the appetite so that Olivia Pope-sized glass of wine may be making you consume more calories from [whatever you’re eating].”

Okay, I received this book as a birthday present yesterday and, not knowing exactly how to take it, I simply opened the book and started reading. I was at once comforted by the author’s recognition of the love-hate relationships many of us have with this part of our anatomy, and her outreach to “embrace” my belly. Yes, this is another diet book, but it caters to an area that is particularly sensitive to women. NO MORE MUFFIN TOPS over the jeans may be a of many a post-pr …more

Monounsaturated fats (MUFA) are the dietary foundation for this plan. The claim is that these fats will fill you up and reduce your belly fat. The first inaccuracy is the premise that dietary fat will fill you up. Numerous studies have shown that fat has no impact on satiety. The only nutrient that has been proven to increase satiety, and thus keep you full between meals, is protein. There is not one mention of this in this book. I can promise that without an adequate amount of protein in your meal, you will be hungry soon after eating. I have worked in the weight-loss field for over 10 years and find this to be one of the keys to my clients’ staving off their hunger.
Consumption of beans regularly helps in reducing the belly fat. Beans are rich in fibers, which make your stomach full, and you will consume fewer calories. The fewer calories you will consume, the less would be the chances of getting fat.
Olive oil is a light, low-calorie, delicious, and subtly fragrant oil. Cooking with olive oil is good for weight loss and your health, in general, because it helps lower bad or LDL cholesterol and increases the levels of good or HDL cholesterol. It is a weight loss-friendly and heart health-friendly oil that you can use to cook or season your food.
As part of the Flat Belly Plan, have an anti-inflammatory snack in the afternoon. Snacks should be rich in flavonoids, which are powerful antioxidants that help curb inflammation. They’re the natural compounds that give berries and other fruits their vibrant color. Try a sliced yellow bell pepper with hummus or a bowl of mixed berries drizzled with dark chocolate. Click here for more anti-inflammatory food suggestions.
Leafy greens like collard greens, watercress, kale, and arugula may not be on your everyday list, but they all contain a compound called sulforaphane. This nutrient has been shown to act directly on the genes that determine “adipocyte differentiation”—basically, turning a stem cell into a fat cell. A healthier intake of the compound means a healthier body weight for you. And just a scant teaspoon of vinaigrette will help your body absorb the fat-soluble nutrients.
“First and foremost you have to train your abs on all three planes. You have to train them forward and back with something like a crunch or double crunch. You have to train your abs laterally to hit the obliques with something like a dumbbell side bend. And you have to train your abs on a rotational plane—your transverse abs—and you can do that from a seated trunk twist.”

While it’s not completely clear how calcium prevents belly fat, it’s definitely crucial. Women with higher calcium intakes gain less belly fat as they age — and carry less belly fat in general — compared to women with low calcium intakes. As a bonus, you’ll build healthy bones that’ll keep you strong, fit and active for life.
These results bear out the science behind them; it has been found that while rest normalizes hunger hormones gherlin and leptin, a lack of sleep stimulates appetite and suppresses the feeling of fullness in the stomach.
Research has linked snacking on nuts with having a lower waist circumference. Nuts are rich in monounsaturated fats, making them a more satisfying pick than pretzels. Make sure you stick to the unsalted versions to stave off sodium-induced puff, and keep in mind one serving is about a small handful.
