Several studies show that alcohol can increase appetite and food intake, and certain types of alcohol are associated with belly fat specifically. If you’re an ale aficionado, be especially mindful of your consumption: One 2013 study review from Denmark suggests that intake of beer is associated with abdominal obesity, while a German study found that lifetime consumption of alcohol is positively related to abdominal fat in 160,000 women. (Not to mention, drinking too much alcohol can mess with your fitness goals.)
The lower belly is one of those seriously frustrating body parts, and it’s not even an entire body part, it’s part of a body part – the lower bit of your tummy. This vexing semi-body part is the bane of anyone who’s lost weight, toned up, put in the hard work, done everything right, but just can’t seem to shift that lower belly bulge. Arrgh! That little belly bulge standing between you and a flat tummy. It is a tricky problem, but a fixable one. There are 3 causes of the lower belly bulge:

Nonstarchy vegetables: Because vegetables fill you up without filling you out, they’re really the backbone to any healthy eating plan. A daily run or Spin class is for your heart, but cardio workouts alone won’t do much for your waist. “You need to do a combination of weights and cardiovascular training,” says Sangeeta Kashyap, M.D., an endocrinologist at Cleveland Clinic. Strength training increases muscle mass, which sets your body up to burn more fat. “Muscle burns more calories than fat, and therefore you naturally burn more calories throughout the day by having more muscle,” says Kate Patton, a registered dietitian at Cleveland Clinic. Patton recommends 250 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise or 125 minutes of high-intensity exercise a week.
Naturally, the first step in finding out how to reduce belly fat starts with food. Eating real foods from nature, instead of fake foods found in packages or boxes, is one of the best (and easiest) things you can do for yourself and your loved ones. Real foods are the ones that humans have been eating for all of history: vegetables, fruits, seeds, clean meats and fish, legumes, and others grown in healthy, rich soils without any chemicals added.
A very important one is sleeping properly. A lack of sleep can cause fat to accumulate in the belly because your body doesn’t have time to digest the foods. Also, when you don’t sleep or when you stay up late, you are more likely to eat later on in the evening or snack.
The best way to consume these herbs would be in tea form. Make a tea with some boiled water and mixing the herbs in them, letting it steep, and then straining them. You can add honey for a sweetener. It is best to drink the tea before meals.
Limitations: The first 4 days are very restrictive. After that, you must eat 400 calories every 4 hours and include monounsaturated fats with every meal. A busy or unpredictable schedule can make this challenging.
Grapefruit doesn’t have any magical fat-burning properties, but it can help you feel full with fewer calories. That’s because its soluble fiber takes longer to digest. Having half a grapefruit or a glass of grapefruit juice before a meal fills you up, so you eat fewer calories during the meal.
Obviously that’s pretty extreme and I wouldn’t advise doing it (unless you were in a supervised environment), but it hits home the point that losing belly fat comes down to reducing your caloric intake to a degree where your body can start eating away at its own fat stores.
If you are carrying a lot of excess weight, you should avoid high-impact exercises like running to prevent joint pain. Walking is one of the simplest but best forms of exercise. It also allows you to burn calories without getting too tired. It is also relaxing and can help you manage stress which causes belly fat and weight gain.
