Hi Mari, not sure if you received a copy yet but we have a shopping list for both weeks up on the site now: http://www.trimmedandtoned.com/14-day-flat-belly-meal-plan-ingredient-list-breakdown-per-meal/
We now know that this type of fat, called visceral fat, churns out stress hormones like cortisol and inflammatory substances called cytokines that affect the body’s production of insulin. The result: It’s worse than just being generally overweight; you’re looking at increased risks of type 2 diabetes and heart disease. (Give your entire body a shape-up in just minutes a day with the exclusive ballet-inspired routines from Prevention’s Flat Belly Barre!)

Salt, in moderation, is a good thing—the mineral is necessary for a healthy heart and brain. But too much salt and you’ll retain water, bloating up like a water balloon. Cutting salt is one of the primary ways to drop extra water weight (one reason you may see a big weight loss when starting a new diet!). Move the salt shaker off your table so you’ll get out of the habit of routinely salting all your food. Then if you taste your food and still really want salt you can still stand up and get some. For more weight loss benefits, add these fat-burning foods your plate.
First I want to straighten out for you what exactly belly fat is so we can figure out the best way to lose it naturally. Belly fat is a combination of subcutaneous fat (meaning the fat under your skin) and visceral fat (meaning the fat surrounding your organs).
Maintaining your weight loss is all about balance, you should try to follow the 80/20 rule. Focus 80 percent of the time on eating healthy, belly-friendly foods that shrink the waistline and fight inflammation. Then 20 percent of the time, you have room to veer off track a bit. This 20 percent is your splurge. You may choose to have one a week where you have a splurge meal, or you may opt for a small snack twice a week where you don’t exactly make the healthiest choice.
For exercise, make your dominant form of activity fast-paced metabolically demanding weight training. Weight training done the right way is better at burning fat, balancing hormones and is great for your heart.
What many people don’t realize is that cortisol is a schizophrenic hormone when it comes to fat loss. It increases fat storage due to the actions it has on the major fat storing enzyme called lipoprotein lipase (LPL). But ironically, it also speeds fat burning by stimulating the major fat releasing enzyme hormone sensitive lipase (HSL). Cortisol can be your best friend or your worst enemy. By itself it does not have much of an impact on belly fat, unless it is “hanging out with” insulin.
An advantage for women is that they naturally carry less visceral belly fat then men do with similar BMI’s, but that all goes out the window once they hit menopause. And for men, there’s no easy way to become a woman besides sitting through the Twilight series…
Just one soda each day—or even per week—can really add up, according to new research in The 7-Day Flat-Belly Tea Cleanse. “Sugar-sweetened beverages, such as soda, sweetened coffee or tea, and fruit juice, can lead to excess calorie consumption and weight gain, specifically in the abdominal area,” explains Alexandra Miller, RDN, LDN, Corporate Dietitian at Medifast. “Instead of having fruit juice, have plain water infused with fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs. Instead of orange juice for breakfast, try plain water infused with slices of orange and lemon.” And melt up to two inches from your waist on The 7-Day Flat-Belly Tea Cleanse! Test panelists lost up to 10 pounds in one week!
Running is one of the best ways of losing weight. Whether it’s through an aerobics kick boxing class or running the Boston Marathon, cardiovascular activity has been shown to extend a runner’s life for up to 3 — 5 years when done in healthy amounts. Learning about the ins and outs of running is important for a beginner.
Flat-Belly Bonus: Research has found that eating nuts is associated with a slimmer waistline and lower BMI. And the kick of spice you’ll find in Chile-Lime Peanuts can help boost your metabolism, thanks to the compound capsaicin.
Another way to fill up before a meal is by eating salad. Lettuce has plenty of water content to take up space in the stomach. That leaves less room for fattier foods that might come later in the meal. Make your salad interesting by adding a variety of fruits and vegetables or grated cheese. Be careful about dressing, which can add a lot of calories.
So slow down and enjoy your food. Your meals should last at least 30 minutes. Also, keep in mind that digestion begins in the mouth and you can decrease bloating just by chewing your food more, Blatner says.
