Foods rich in the amino acid leucine can help build the lean muscle mass that’s needed to trim excess fat from your frame, according to Jennifer McDaniel MS, RDN, CSSD, LD. It literally jumpstarts the process of developing muscle mass—and red meats are one of the best sources around. Go grass-fed to get the added benefits of omega-3s and conjugated linoleic acids — these two fatty acids help to decrease the inflammation in your body that causes fat storage.

Vegetables, on the other hand, satisfy the desire to crunch and can be a healthy snack and a substitute to other unhealthy snacks. Try to munch on carrot and celery sticks or a sweet potato instead of chips, or make an interesting salad (but be careful about the dressing). In addition to eating foods that are high in water content you can drink fat flush water to melt your fat.
So here’s what I’m going to do, simply watch the two videos below (the entire length of each one) and then read the post below and I’ll elaborate on a few things. (Here’s another great post that will help you lose weight fast)
You know that protein can keep you full longer and burn more calories during digestion. Choose your protein carefully. Dark meat tends to be high in fat, which could cancel out some of the benefits. Skinless chicken breast is a great choice. And some cuts of beef can make the grade. Flank steak, eye of round, and top sirloin are extra-lean with less than 4 grams of saturated fat per serving. Stick with a 3- to 4-ounce portion.
Whether you’re tired of seeing a “muffin top” hanging over the waistband of your favorite jeans or are concerned about the health risks associated with excess belly fat, try to adopt eating habits designed to help you reduce the added pounds you’re carrying around the middle. By adopting certain foods into your daily diet, you can increase the ability to lose stomach weight. Combine the dietary changes with exercise and you’ll find success with your diet to lose belly fat.
Slouching is the main reason for fat accumulation in the body. Learn to sit straight right from your childhood. Sitting with a curved back or spine may result in fat accumulation around your stomach area.
No matter what you’ve tried, that 30 or 40 pounds of pudge wouldn’t budge. All you want is to look and feel great in your favorite jeans again. Catch is, you don’t want to do even one crunch let alone 100 or give up the foods you love, like chocolate.

Booze has a lot more calories than you might expect: 153 for a 12-ounce regular beer and 125 for a 5-ounce pour of red wine. (Don’t even get us started on the piña colada, which packs 500 calories into just nine ounces.) But alcohol may be widening to your waistline in another less obvious way. The calories in alcohol can’t be stored for later, so the body’s metabolism has to focus on alcohol first when it’s in the body. This diverts it from its task of burning fat, and fat burn especially drops in the belly. But there is such a thing as drinking responsibly for weight loss. Older women who drink about one alcoholic beverage per per day seem to gain less weight over time than women who don’t drink, probably because they keep other healthy behaviors and are more physically active.

Appetite hormones, including ghrelin and leptin, control how hungry or satisfied we feel before, after and between eating. Eating chemically altered foods (which spike cravings), repeat yo-yo dieting, crash dieting, genetic factors and stress can all interfere with appetite regulation.
“Probiotics have been shown to lower the effects on abdominal obesity as well as help with gas, bloating, and other digestive issues,” adds Miller. Pro-tip: “Select yogurts with the Live & Active Cultures seal. The seal is a voluntary identification available to all manufacturers of refrigerated yogurt whose products contain at least 100 million cultures per gram at the time of manufacture, and whose frozen yogurt contains at least 10 million cultures per gram at the time of manufacture. Have yogurt with breakfast or lunch or as a snack,” Miller adds. Try one of these 25 Best Yogurts for Weight Loss!
Aging does play a role too. As you age, you lose muscle — especially if you’re not physically active. Loss of muscle mass decreases the rate at which your body uses calories, which can make it more challenging to maintain a healthy weight. According to the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, men in their 50s need about 200 fewer calories daily than they do in their 30s due to this muscle loss.
Don’t be surprised. Although it is a fat, coconut oil can actually help lose your belly fat! I’ll tell you how. This oil extracted from coconut has a unique combination of fatty acids. It has a positive effect on your metabolism too. Coconut oil is high on medium chain triglycerides. The medium chain fatty acids are metabolized differently from long chain fatty acids. These fatty acids directly go to the liver from your digestive tract, where they are used in one of the two ways- either as energy or are converted into ketone bodies. Ketone bodies are three water-soluble biochemical compounds that are produced by the liver using fatty acids when you fast or reduce your food intake. These are used by body cells as energy instead of glucose. So when you want to follow low carb diet to lose fat, coconut oil can help you a lot.
Lean protein like fish is a great way to fight fat and boost your metabolism. But the farmed salmon you get at the local market might not be the best bet for your belly. The cold-water fish has a well-deserved reputation for packing plenty of heart-healthy omega 3 fatty acids—1,253 mg of the good stuff, and just 114 mg of inflammatory, belly-busting omega 6s. But the farmed variety—and 90 percent of what we eat today is farmed—has a very different story to tell. It packs a whopping 1,900 mg of unhealthy omega-6s.
You’ve tried them all in your pursuit of flat abs: crunches, reverse crunches, planks, bicycles and even the ab roller. After all, it seems logical. To increase muscular definition and lose fat, you should workout your stomach muscles more. But will that really lead to a trim belly?
“Every experience when you are fat is Meeting new people (they are going to immediately think I’m huge), trying on clothes (god everything is too small, they hardly have anything that fits me, that means 99 per cent of the people who come here are in better shape than I am), going out to eat (everyone is noticing how much I, the fat guy is eating), etc etc.

Most scientific evidence suggests that a calorie-controlled diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, low-fat dairy, beans, nuts, seeds, lean meat, fish, eggs, and poultry is the foundation for a diet that provides all the nutrients you need while helping to whittle your waistline. Weight loss experts recommend combining this diet with 30 to 60 minutes of exercise most days of the week.
Hi Adrian, I’ve been trying to lose my last 10 lbs which is all in my belly. I started taking a fat burner , up my proteins big time because I fear losing my curves and butt while trying to lose belly fat in the process. I do cardio and weight training 3-5 days a week, yet I’m still not losing belly fat after 4 weeks. My weight stays the same. I don’t bother keeping a food log and therefore doesn’t know how many calories I’m eating although I eat very healthy. I’m afraid of eating too little so as to not lose my curves and butt. Should I still keep a food log and count calories? Is that going to help me with losing my belly fat even though I’m afraid of losing my curves?

There’s no quick fix to get a flat stomach — it takes hard work and patience and no plan specifically targets stomach fat, notes Gina Neill, a clinical dietitian at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago, in an article from “Men’s Fitness.” The real secret — which is no secret at all — is simply eating fewer calories and making healthier food choices.
