Salt, in moderation, is a good thing—the mineral is necessary for a healthy heart and brain. But too much salt and you’ll retain water, bloating up like a water balloon. Cutting salt is one of the primary ways to drop extra water weight (one reason you may see a big weight loss when starting a new diet!). Move the salt shaker off your table so you’ll get out of the habit of routinely salting all your food. Then if you taste your food and still really want salt you can still stand up and get some. Good fats that you need to be adding to your eating regime include avocado, olives, salmon and coconut oil. A study in the International Journal of Obesity found that eating three 5-ounce servings of salmon per week for four weeks as part of a low-calorie diet resulted in approximately 2.2 pounds more weight loss than following a diet that didn’t include fish.
I have never heard that any of those things help Paige. To me it’s more about the 80/20 rule. Basically a small amount of things create the biggest impact. I keep my focus on my macros – Protein, Fat, Carb ratios. This had been the most effective thing for me. I don’t get cause up in worrying if I eat a piece of fruit here or there. Here’s a post that may help from my facebook account… https://www.facebook.com/naturallyloseweightfast/posts/572959539456583?stream_ref=10
IBS, or irritable bowel syndrome, is the most common gastrointestinal disorder. IBS symptoms include nausea, diarrhea, constipation, stomach pain, and bloating—So. Much. Bloating. While the causes aren’t all known, it’s thought to be linked to lifestyle factors like diet, exercise, hormones, and stress. These natural remedies for IBS can help. Sufferers often find that making changes in these areas eliminates or reduces their IBS (and their stomach circumference!).
The irony of me reading this around the holidays, when I am eating about 4 times my weight in food, is not lost on me. And diet books start looking all the same (and I think I pretty much know all that I need to about how the body works and how it burns calories!) However, this focuses on ways to lose belly weight specifically, and it had some interesting notes. Most interestingly, it explains you need to eat Monounsaturated Fatty Acids (MUFAs) at every meal: healthy oils, dark chocolate, nuts, …more

A 2007 study published in the scientific journal Diabetes Care reveals what you need to do to move fat away from your midsection. Over the course of the study, every participant was put on three different diet plans for one month each–two are relevant to our discussion so I’ll focus on those:
Start by cutting back on ultra-processed foods, bubbly drinks, gum, and sugary beverages. While no single food can “spot train” belly fat, some smart swaps can ease bloating, improve gut health (eliminating cramps and gas!), and help you feel less puffy. Fill up on these foods instead…
7. Eat More Protein. Protein has a higher thermic effect than other foods: your body burns more energy processing proteins than it does processing carbs and fat. That’s why high protein diets work great at burning your belly fat.
Partly because of genetics, including the effects of “fetal and postnatal imprinting,” or passing on likelihood of obesity from mom to baby. Research now shows that a mother’s environment, habits and diet during pregnancy can have lasting consequences on body weight and risk of chronic disease in the offspring. (2)

Belly fat is, in fact, the colloquial term for abdominal fat. According to medical experts, belly fat can be potentially dangerous. Excess of it can lead to a number of health problems including heart diseases, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, a decrease in the level of HDL or good cholesterol, and can even lead to strokes or sleep apnea. You need to combat this problem before it gets too late.
If you’re wondering how to burn belly fat and have even considered taking diet pills or fat burners, you should try to do it the all natural way before taking extreme measures. Unfortunately, there’s no instant fix for belly fat — you’ll need to make lifestyle changes to lose it. But good news — harmful belly fat is the first fat to go when you start losing weight. Losing just 5 to 10% of your body weight makes a major difference in reducing your disease risk, so incorporating just a few tips is enough to help you get healthier.
Boost your overall health and shed excess belly fat by adding exercise to your weekly routine. Any exercise you do — whether that’s a structured workout at the gym or an informal brisk walk around your neighborhood — utilizes calories, so you’ll burn more body fat.
I tried the Flat Belly Diet and stuck with it for about 8 months (then I got pregnant…lol…) and I lost 43 pounds on it! I lost 6 pounds the first week alone! It is this diet’s simplicity that attracted me to it… If you follow the diet’s instructions and get a bit exercise as well, it should work for you too. Here is the biggest reason why most diets don’t work – we think of them as DIETS! Make the Flat Belly Diet food your LIFESTYLE – don’t be on a DIET but have a HEALTHY diet. Eat healthy and be healhy… It’s common sense, really…
Quinoa (pronounced keen-wa) is a nutritional all-star that belongs in your weight loss plan. This whole grain has 8 grams of hunger-busting protein and 5 grams of fiber in one cup, and you’ll also get iron, zinc, selenium, and vitamin E. Quinoa is as easy to cook as rice. For a quick dinner, mix in some vegetables, nuts, or lean protein.
MUFAs, or monounsaturated fatty acids, are the cornerstone of the Flat Belly Plan. These are plant-based fats, so the easiest way to remember them is to look for healthy fats that aren’t from animal sources, such as avocados, nuts, seeds, oils and olives. A study done through the American Diabetic Association found that a diet rich in MUFAs worked to reduce belly fat.
Women who wake up and go to bed at the same time each evening have lower levels of body fat, according to a recent Brigham Young University study. Chaotic sleep habits cause your internal clock to go haywire, which in turn causes your body to secrete fat-storing hormones like cortisol. (Avoid these 10 more unhealthy weekend habits that set you up for a less-than-stellar week.)
Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). This inhibits the activity of a different enzyme also responsible for breaking down neurotransmitters that induce lipolysis. It has also been shown to reduce abdominal fat in particular.
Out-of-whack hormones have all kinds of uncomfortable side effects and belly bloat is one of them. There’s a reason that bloating is one of the primary complaints women have during menopause! While you can’t turn back the clock and reclaim the hormone profile of your 20’s, you can make sure you’re within the normal range—something your doctor can check for you. (Before your appointment, know these signs of a thyroid disorder). In the meantime, eating right and exercising are natural ways to balance your hormones.
Food allergies and intolerances can cause gas and bloating. But these need to be confirmed by your doctor. Many people self-diagnose these conditions and unnecessarily eliminate healthy dairy and whole grains from their diets. If you suspect you have an allergy or intolerance, see your doctor for tests.
Fiber is a miracle substance. Fiber slows digestion and makes you feel fuller. This is so important in burning fat and reducing cravings, especially for foods loaded with sugar, and how many calories you end up eating throughout the day, which leads to fat loss. When you lose belly fat naturally eating enough fiber is essential for losing that stubborn bulge.

Exercises targeting the belly are not enough to help you lose belly fat. You cannot target fat loss; you cannot lose fat from one specific area by thinking about it. It’s like saying you don’t want to drive to where you’re going you want to teleport there. It’s not going to happen. Sit-ups, crunches and core work are not going to miraculously blast belly fat. If it did, a lot less people, would have a belly. Exercises like crunches do not target belly fat, they target belly muscle (i.e. abs). They will make your muscles bigger, but that helps little if they are hiding beneath a layer of fat. However, once you’ve lost the belly fat, those exercises will pay off. But, the first step is to lose belly fat.
There are certain foods that will help you lose belly fat, while other foods will actually increase belly fat. Foods that help burn belly fat are low in saturated fat and high in monounsaturated fat, such as olive oil, walnuts, and flax seeds. However, avoid refined grains, which increase belly fat, and choose whole grains instead. A diet rich in fruits and vegetables, preferably organic is ideal. Indeed, research shows that Mediterranean style dietis the best diet in aiding the loss of belly fat. Read more about foods that can help you lose belly fat.
