Cayenne pepper: Hot peppers will increase your heart rate, make you sweat, and boost your metabolic rate at the same time. They are also one the best foods to reduce inflammation in your body. Capsaicin, found in cayenne pepper, can increase calories burned after consumption. A study in the British Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that when subjects consumed capsaicin for weight maintenance, fat oxidation (the breakdown of fat) was increased. Capsaicin may also stimulate the production of AMPK, leading to further breakdown of fat. Try adding cayenne pepper to recipes like chicken tenders for an extra fat-burning effect or try a detox drink with cayenne pepper.
Keeping protein up is key at lunch too. Base your lunch around a protein-filled food, such as turkey, canned tuna or salmon, or cottage cheese. What you have with your protein depends on your calorie intake. If you’re active and have higher calorie needs, you may wish to go for a sandwich, bagel or wrap, some fruit and mixed nuts. If your calories are on the lower end, however, making a salad with your protein, or having a soup on the side will allow you to get a bigger, more filling lunch for fewer calories.

Speaking from a woman who’s tried everything, the cabbage soup diets, as well as the liquid diets are a quick fix but the weight will come back once you introduce solids into your diet again.(The cabbage soup diet also makes you skin, as certain elements are excreted through your pores). Weight watchers worked but i never understood why they charged so much to get weighed in.
Okay, I received this book as a birthday present yesterday and, not knowing exactly how to take it, I simply opened the book and started reading. I was at once comforted by the author’s recognition of the love-hate relationships many of us have with this part of our anatomy, and her outreach to “embrace” my belly. Yes, this is another diet book, but it caters to an area that is particularly sensitive to women. NO MORE MUFFIN TOPS over the jeans may be a goal of many a post-pr …more

Hey Danielle – first and foremost… we all want you on this earth for a long long time so don’t go anywhere! Thanks for the post and question. Bottom line… healthy “snacks” for me are just small meals. I eat no less than 6 meals per day and all are pretty much same size. Why? Simply because it works exceptionally well for me. So lets say I wake up and have eggs (as I do on many occasions). That’s meal 1. My second meal would be about 2 hours later and could be something like a whey protein shake with a scoop of peanut butter. I guess you could consider that a “snack”. Basically too me perfect snack foods are things that contribute to my fat burning and muscle building. That means good protein source ZERO refined carbs — basically LOW GLYCEMIC. My snacks would be “mixes” of foods. So like almonds with a small chicken breast (sounds too big to be a snack I know). Whey with peanut butter. I don’t believe in the standard ol’ “apple” or “banana” or “salad” snack. Why? because I think it’s very over hyped and has never proven itself effective for me. I… Read more »
If you’re smart about the foods you choose and limit your intake, eventually you’ll start to lose body fat and drop pants sizes. Hot foods can be of a high temperature or spicy (or both). Hot food takes longer to eat and with added bonuses such as fiber and water content that make you feel full. This is why oatmeal can be found in many lists, or homemade soups (broth based and not cream based).
