So far, so good. As a student, my eating habits are lacking, to say the least. Enjoy a delicious barley side dish instead of white rice with dinner and you could be on your way to shedding dangerous belly fat, according to a study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. People on a reduced-calorie diet were told to avoid whole-grain foods or to get all their grain servings from whole grains (such as whole-wheat bread, oatmeal, barley, and brown rice). Although both groups lost equal amounts of weight, the whole-grain group lost more abdominal fat. Good rule of thumb: Get at least three servings of whole-grain foods a day. A serving is a slice of bread, an ounce of cold cereal, or a half-cup of cooked cereal, rice, pasta, or other grain. Oatmeal and barley are particularly good choices because they’re rich in soluble fibre and don’t typically raise blood sugar as much as white or brown rice.
You know that protein can keep you full longer and burn more calories during digestion. Choose your protein carefully. Dark meat tends to be high in fat, which could cancel out some of the benefits. Skinless chicken breast is a great choice. And some cuts of beef can make the grade. Flank steak, eye of round, and top sirloin are extra-lean with less than 4 grams of saturated fat per serving. 7. Tart cherries – In a study conducted by the University of Michigan, it was found that a diet containing tart cherries may help lower symptoms of heart disease and metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome is a term used to refer to a group of symptoms which increase the risk of a host of heart diseases, diabetes and belly fat. In the study, the animal subjects had reduced cholesterol levels and a fat content of only 54 percent compared to the non-cherry fed group of 63 percent belly fat. Tart cherries have also been identified to have antioxidant properties.
Hang in there girl, it takes determination to lose weight and no one gets fat overnight, so obviously you won’t lose the weight overnight. Also, try green tea and other herbal teas. Drnk them hot and no processed sugar.
