This book is really good. I like that it has all of the basic information about the Flat Belly Diet in the beginning, so if were to want to do the flat belly diet they really only need the cookbook and can save money not buying the other book (which explains the diet but doesn’t have any recipes). I have tried several recipes and they have all been very good. I like that they are healthy recipes with flavor and for the most part fairly easy to make. For me, personally, sticking to the actual diet part is not easy because I think it is a little time consuming and can be a little expensive. But I wanted this more to understand the diet and see how it could fit into my lifestyle of eating healthy. And it does! I would recommend this book. It offers recipes for: breakfast, soups & sandwiches, vegetarian, seafood, poultry, meats, snacks, and desserts. The other thing that is great about this book is that for each recipe it tells you how long it takes to make, how many servings, the nutrition info (calories, protein, carbs, fat, sat fat, cholesterol, sodium and fiber)and the MUFA (monounsaturated fats). It also tells you for each recipe what to pair it with to make it a “complete” MUFA meal and then tells you the total caloric intake if you do pair it with the suggestion. The other thing that I do like about this book is that it offers a planned out 14 day meal plan in the appendix and a MUFA serving chart (lists each MUFA, the serving size and the calories). User friendly. Good recipes. Good information.

5. Work your mid-to upper back. These muscles are also important for good posture. The bent-over row exercise is a great way to strengthen them. To do it: Place your left knee and left hand on a flat bench or chair so your back is parallel to the floor. Holding a dumbbell in your right hand, start with your right arm directly under your shoulder and extended toward the floor. @Paul, 8 is the minimum age for somebody to start weight lifting. I would highly suggest sticking to basic bodyweight lifting exercises such as push-ups, pull-ups, lunges, etc. to build a base before lifting actual weights.

Incorporate interval training into workouts. Intervals alternate short bursts of higher-intensity activity with recovery periods of lighter activity. Your heart rate and breathing increase during the intense period, which raises the metabolism to burn more calories. Allowing periods of less-vigorous activity in between hard intervals allows your heart rate and breathing to return to normal, which means you can work out longer to burn more calories and lose belly fat. Try an interval running workout by running hard for one minute followed by two minutes of easier jogging. Repeat the sequence five to 10 times and be sure to include warmup and cool-down periods to avoid injury.

Insulin activity shuts down any fat releasing activity of other hormones like cortisol, and therefore accentuates the negative fat storing effects. Adding cortisol to insulin is like pouring gasoline on a fire. The two together — with excess calories — are the real culprits in fat gain around the middle.

If you’ve ever felt bloated after a salty meal, it’s not in your head. Excess salt causes water to move from your bloodstream into your skin, which is why a daily dose of Doritos will give you a puffy look. Nearly 90 percent of people consume more than the recommended 2,300mg sodium per day. So even if you’re not pouring on the table salt, you’re likely getting more sodium than you need through other sources such as canned foods, salad dressing, deli meats, and even some dairy products like cottage cheese. (But keep in mind that you do need some salt and that the low-sodium diet rule is being debated.)

Hi, I never had a stomach before and within the last 3 years at the age of 50 I have developed visceral fat! I can not stand it! I am in the peri-menopause period at this time in my life and am now taking plant based Bi-est I receive from my doctor to curtail the symptoms of menopause. I know there are probably other foods that can get into the list, but I think you’ve got the idea. There are no miracles in how to lose belly fat. Lifestyle changes are key to a long term success.
