It’s a dietary miracle: A fat that makes you skinny. Dietary supplementation of coconut oil actually reduced abdominal obesity in a study published in the journal Lipids. Of the participants, half were given two tablespoons of coconut oil daily and the other half were given soybean oil, and although both groups experienced overall weight loss, only the coconut oil group saw smaller waistlines. And other researchers have also pointed to the waist-whittling effects of the tropical oil. In a separate study of 30 men, those who ate 2 tablespoons of coconut oil a day shrank their waists by an average of 1.1 inches in one month. Thank C.O.’s medium-chain triglycerides, which are burned as energy instead of being stored as fat, and lauric acid, which has been shown to pinpoint belly fat and torch it.
Another key to a successful diet to lose belly fat-leading a stress-free life. Because stress can increase the production of cortisol, keeping anxiety in check will reduce the amount of the hormone that has been shown to increase belly fat.
Insulin is the hormone that’s released when we consume carbohydrates. It helps take glucose (sugar) out of the bloodstream and brings it into cells to be used for energy. However, when too much glucose remains in the blood, it’s stored away for later use as body fat. If insulin is really out of whack, this fat storage can spiral out of control.
Yet an increase in belly fat does more than make it hard to zip up your jeans. Research shows that belly fat also carries serious health risks. The good news? The threats posed by belly fat can be reduced.
Keep portion sizes in check. Even when you’re making healthy choices, calories add up. At home, slim down your portion sizes. In restaurants, share meals — or eat half your meal and take the rest home.
Keep those fluids coming! “Being dehydrated causes the body to hoard water,” Lyon says, leading you to carry up to four excess pounds around your midsection. Aim for at least eight cups of water or other fluids daily.
Hey Brandon (great name my brother’s name is Brandon) — the short answer is NOTHING. Let me clarify (and these are my opinions but they are backed by real world results)… the action of lifting a “weight” forces muscle fibers to react a different way and as a results the muscle building tends to be superior. Case in point… (and I have done this)… if I were to go off my weight lifting routine and simply do things like push-ups and other “body-weight” exercises my weight lifting strength has always plummeted (this happens for most people). Why? because there is just something about lifting weights that really strengthens the muscle fiber. NOW… this doesn’t mean you can’t get results dong things like push ups (you certainly can)… but in my opinion the results are not going to be the same. It’s like the difference between long distance running and sprinting. Both are “running”… but the results over time on the human body are very different. Sprinters tend to get “ripped” while long distance runners tend to lose muscle because there bodies are adapting to “oxygen” needs. First of all I’d do whatever I can to lift weights… but if I… Read more »
Ornithine. Ornithine is an amino acid found in high amounts in dairy and meat that reduces fatigue in prolonged exercise and promotes lipid oxidation (the burning of fat for energy as opposed to carbohydrate or glycogen).
Answer: A half cup of ice cream If you eat what you’re craving, you’re more likely to feel satisfied and eat less. And scoop for scoop sorbet contains twice the sugar with none of the filling dairy protein and fat.

When you eat food, it gets broken down into various molecules that your cells can use, and these molecules are released into your blood. Insulin is released as well, and its job is to shuttle these nutrients into cells for absorption and processing.
Do you think that a slimming smoothie can very well fit into your diet but still want to respect the prerogatives of the Dukan diet, especially during the consolidation phase where you must alternate between vegetables and foods high in proteins such as lean meats.
Hey Sam – sorry for the delay here… just getting the hang of this “blog commenting” setup I have here so missed a few comments. Many apologies! Anyway – two video that I think will answer your questions…
Poofing, pouching, and puffing out, there it is—staring at us when we look down, taunting us from the mirror. We do everything in our power to make it look smaller: stand tall, suck it in, belt it back, hide it under clothes, but you still know it’s there. What’s behind this inexplicable fat explosion?
“Trainers have engrained into our brains that we must ‘eat something’ before and after a workout,” says Hayim. “So much so, we neglect our actual feelings of hunger and satiety, and thoughtlessly stuff something into our mouths. Although pre and post-workout eating is essential for athletic recovery, many people have enough fuel from a recent meal they consumed and do not need those extra calories. A good rule of thumb is, if your last meal was three or more hours prior to workout, grab a carbohydrate-rich snack (30 grams of carbohydrates or less),” she explains. Curious about carbs?
