Your phone, tablet, and television may be affecting your waist size in more ways that one. Obviously if you’re sitting on electronics then you’re not moving around and burning calories. But the effects go beyond just energy. Blue light from electronic screens can disrupt your circadian rhythms; so our addiction to electronics is reducing our sleep as people favor Netflix-bingeing to bed. Both of these effects have been linked to higher levels of belly fat.
Don’t be surprised. Although it is a fat, coconut oil can actually help lose your belly fat! I’ll tell you how. This oil extracted from coconut has a unique combination of fatty acids. It has a positive effect on your metabolism too. Coconut oil is high on medium chain triglycerides. The medium chain fatty acids are metabolized differently from long chain fatty acids. These fatty acids directly go to the liver from your digestive tract, where they are used in one of the two ways- either as energy or are converted into ketone bodies. Ketone bodies are three water-soluble biochemical compounds that are produced by the liver using fatty acids when you fast or reduce your food intake. These are used by body cells as energy instead of glucose. So when you want to follow low carb diet to lose fat, coconut oil can help you a lot.

Hi Vicky, the best workout for losing weight is a combination of cardio workout (aerobics) and resistance workout (such as weights, bands, your own body weight). Cardio is any movement that gets your heart rate up and increases blood circulation. Most people exercising cardio are using it to burn off excess calories, but there are various forms of exercising cardio, and vigorous cardio is not necessarily one of them. You can do a milder form of aerobics, for example walking but not very fast, or if you go to the gym, the aerobics machines have adjustable levels from easy to hard. You can only do what you can do and you need to adjust the level to your ability (for example shorter at a slower pace). If there are times when you cannot do aerobics at all, concentrate on resistance workout. The benefits of resistance workout include improved muscle strength and tone, healthy weight, increased bone density and strength. As you gain muscle, your body burns more calories when at rest. Again, adjust the level of resistance to your abilities and don’t over-do it to avoid extra stress on the body. You can find exercises that you can do at home in my website, for example, exercises for tummy, back, butt and legs and more (use the “search” option).

Put aside the butter and olive oil: coconut oil should be your new go-to medium for frying and basting. The reason is that it can withstand much higher heats, so it’s less carcinogenic than other oils. Studies show that the medium-chain fats in coconut oil boost metabolism and decrease the amount of fat you store in response to high calorie intake.
Stay away from trans-fatty fats present in products like margarine. Trans-fatty fats are bad for your health. Eat whole unprocessed foods 90% of the time as I recommend in point 3 and you’ll avoid trans-fatty fats easily.

Great information in this book. It’s a lifestyle more than a diet. The gyst is that you eat healthy and regularly and moderately (400 calories a meal, 4 times a day) and add a monounsaturated fat to each meal. These are the good fats and they target your subcutaneous fat, otherwise known as your stomach flab. I like it because it’s not a diet about what you can’t eat. I’m already firmly in the eat moderately and healthy and exercise camp – no fad diets, you don’t need to eliminate food groups, e …more
3. Kneeling on the floor, place your chest on an exercise ball and put your hands on the floor in front of it. Your hands should be directly below your shoulders. Slowly raise your right arm and left leg. Squeeze your buttocks as you lift, and aim to get your arm and leg in line with your spine. Don’t lift your head or arch your back. Hold, and then slowly lower. Repeat with the opposite arm and leg. Do 10 times.
These results bear out the science behind them; it has been found that while rest normalizes hunger hormones gherlin and leptin, a lack of sleep stimulates appetite and suppresses the feeling of fullness in the stomach.
Sauerkraut is a fermented food. Kimchi (pickled veggies) is a good source of probiotics or good gut bacteria that help reduce bloating and improve digestion. According to Frank Lipman, M.D., founder of Eleven Eleven Wellness Center in New York City, including sauerkraut in your diet can help protect your gut from being overtaken by pathogenic bacteria that cause health problems. So, to lose weight, have some lip-smacking kimchi or sauerkraut. And you thought losing weight wasn’t fun!
