Hi Heather, not sure if you received a copy yet but we have a shopping list for both weeks up on the site now: http://www.trimmedandtoned.com/14-day-flat-belly-meal-plan-ingredient-list-breakdown-per-meal/
The study assessed the effects of consuming a breakfast meal with or without a hot ginger beverage (2 g ginger powder dissolved in a hot water) on energy expenditure, of appetite and satiety in overweight men.
Once you’ve established a regular cardio routine, add two or three weight training sessions on nonconsecutive days to your weekly workouts; everyone naturally gains some fat as they age, but building muscle tone can significantly slow the production of belly fat. In a study conducted at the University of Minnesota, overweight women who did twice-weekly strength training routines that included eight to 10 exercises of major muscle groups, from biceps curls to leg presses, gained 67 percent less visceral fat over two years than women who didn’t do strength training regularly.
Stubborn tummy fat can be very hard to shift. Due to our often sedentary lifestyles and stressful jobs, medicated with alcohol and biscuits, belly fat can easily build up. And, it’s not just our ability to win the swimsuit competition that’s affected by the belly build up: fat deposits around the belly are linked to serious health issues, including type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease.
Plenty of other studies point to nuts as a waist-friendly addition to your diet, as long as you don’t go overboard. Chalk it up to their fiber, their protein, and their “good” fat, which may increase the body’s sensitivity to insulin, aiding weight loss. Walnuts are one of the best non-fish sources of omega-3 fatty acids, and almonds provide extra benefit in the form of fat-busting calcium.
Ginger is a root that has a crisp, pleasantly spicy flavor and also boasts many health benefits. One of these benefits is the ability of ginger to have a positive impact on maintaining a healthy weight—specifically, with losing weight and losing belly fat.
There are other foods that I would recommend for healthy people such as the occasional starchy grains like rice and Root vegetables like potatoes and sweet potatoes. However, they are still very high in carbs.
1. HIIT Sprints: This is done using a treadmill or running or outdoors. I get clients to run as fast as they can for 30 seconds followed by 30 seconds rest and will repeat this between 10-15 times depending on fitness levels. HIIT training stands for high Intensity Interval Training and is very effective way to burn calories and fat.
Ingest more of the right type of carbs that can help when losing belly fat. A diet considered the best way to lose belly fat includes equal amounts of fruits, vegetables and whole grains and a reduction of simple high-carb foods loaded with detrimental trans fats like fried foods, chips and cookies. It’s recommended to increase carbohydrate consumption slowly, however, since a diet featuring more than seventy percent carbs can lead to bloating (and the look of more belly fat).
A 2007 study published in the scientific journal Diabetes Care reveals what you need to do to move fat away from your midsection. Over the course of the study, every participant was put on three different diet plans for one month each–two are relevant to our discussion so I’ll focus on those:
The first part of this diet is called the Four-Day Anti-Bloat Jumpstart. The book states that “in just four days, you’ll lose several pounds and inches” and it promises to “shrink your belly-a loss of up to 5 ¾ total inches.” The premise for this is to get you motivated to proceed with the remainder of the diet by seeing some results happen quickly. The goal for these four days is to eliminate gas, heavy solids, and excess fluid. A 1,200-calorie diet is given with the instruction to avoid
This diet book is badly outdated. The diet appears to be all right for those who have 20 pounds or less to lose, and for those people, could be a lifestyle eating plan. The optional exercise plan seems adequate, but not really suited for most people with real lives — you know, those people who don’t have 1-2 hours a day several times a week to devote to exercise. Maybe it would just be better if we were more like the Amish — working physically hard all day and didn’t worry about “exercise”. No …more
Water retention induces a puffed belly. And as salt is something which is attracted to water, it contributes in gaining extra fat. To avoid this unnecessary fat, switch to salt-free seasonings like cayenne pepper and notice the difference on your own.
But we only have ourselves to blame for not caring enough to take action to get healthy. People are so busy with sedentary activities like chatting and texting on their cell phones, eyes glued to the computer or watching TV, that proper nutrition and exercise are nowhere on their radars. It’s sad, but it is what it is.
“I recommend the DCBA approach: Diet first, Cardio second, Building muscle third, and Abs exercises last. Follow it and you can safely lose one to two pounds a week. Spend 60 minutes a day preparing healthier meals. Spend 20 minutes a day three to five times weekly doing cardio. Spend 15 minutes a day three times a week strength training. Finally, spend 5 minutes a day three times a week doing abs exercises.”
Spirulina is a sea plant that is high in protein and calcium, boosts your energy and is a great antioxidant. It is available in powder form and can be added to your Healthy Mummy Smoothie for that extra boost.
Drinking eight glasses of water each day aids your digestion, reduces bloating, and keeps your metabolism functioning at its best. Plus, replacing your sugary drinks with water throughout the day is a quick fix to decrease your daily caloric intake, which leads to overall weight loss and a trimmer belly. Add a splash of lemon or lime to make a bland glass of water more exciting, and you’ll be well on your way to a trimmer tummy. Here are more tricks for drinking more water every day.
I learned that this book is basically a Mediteranian diet which includes the good oils (olive, avacado, seeds, etc.) and very little meat, hardly anything processed, lots of plant foods rich in color. The diet starts out with a 4 day quick start program that promises to rid your body of excess water and gas that cause bloating. I have just completed the 4 days and I learned a few things about food and how important it is to eat every 4 hours. You don’t need to buy to book to get this 4 day quick …more
If you thought losing weight would mean giving up all your indulgences, look no further than dark chocolate. A study at Louisiana State University found that gut microbes in our stomach ferment chocolate and boost our body’s production of gut-healthy polyphenolic compounds, including butyrate, a fatty acid that encourages the body to burn fat as fuel and turns off genes linked to inflammation. (Add fruit to the chocolate to boost fermentation and the release of the compounds.) Make sure you go with chocolate that has a cacao content of 70 percent or above—these have the highest concentrations of antioxidant polyphenols.
Instead of three big meals per day, try eating smaller meals more often. This can keep you free of the bloated feeling that often follows large meals (think Thanksgiving). Eating more frequently can also help control blood sugar and manage hunger.
Oats are rich in fiber and aid digestion. They contain insoluble fiber and carbohydrates that curb your hunger, give you strength for better a workout, and reduce fat content in your body. Having a bowl of oats with skimmed milk for breakfast is the best thing you can do every morning. When you are buying oatmeal, make sure that you choose one that is flavorless as the flavored oats contain sugar and chemicals.
Saturated fat is bad??? Come on. What century are you living in?! Uh…you might need the saturated fat for things like hormone production and cellular integrity, no? You have seen the recent studies debunking the idiotic myth that saturated fat is bad for us, correct?
Fiber is amazing when it comes to helping digestion. Organic fiber cereals actually prevent constipation and help you get that flat stomach quickly if consumed regularly in breakfast. Substitute high fiber oats with any traditional cereal and that flat belly isn’t far.
Keeping protein up is key at lunch too. Base your lunch around a protein-filled food, such as turkey, canned tuna or salmon, or cottage cheese. What you have with your protein depends on your calorie intake. If you’re active and have higher calorie needs, you may wish to go for a sandwich, bagel or wrap, some fruit and mixed nuts. If your calories are on the lower end, however, making a salad with your protein, or having a soup on the side will allow you to get a bigger, more filling lunch for fewer calories.
Apart from dietary tips for losing belly fat, if you want to maintain that results permanently, it is necessary for you to apply a well-planned physical regime. Even if you follow these home remedies strictly, lacking of exercise will not bring any good effect for your overall health. The fast you acknowledge this, the early you could reduce abdominal fat and maintain it well. Opt for walking, cycling, running or aerobics to get your body moved. Yet, remember to sleep enough, drink plenty of water, quit smoking and alcohol. These simple recommendations are essential for every healthy body.
