Your best bet for blasting belly fat is slow, steady weight loss — not instant one-week results. Steer clear of diets promising double-digit weight loss in just a week or diets that cut out entire food groups or require you to eat just a couple foods. These are typically fad diets that aren’t sustainable — so you’re likely to regain any lost weight — and such diet plans might even interfere with your ability to lose fat in the long run, explains the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
You can’t pick where on your body you lose fat from, but you can burn fat from all over, including your belly. The first step to take in designing a fat-busting diet is to cut your calories. You need a calorie deficit of 500 per day to lose 1 pound per week. To work out how many calories you need to maintain your weight, the University of Maryland Medical Center recommends that active men multiply their body weight in pounds by 15 and active women multiply their body weight in pounds by 12. Sedentary men should multiply by 13 and sedentary women by 10. Take 500 from your result to find how many calories you need to eat daily to lose 1 pound per week, or take away 1,000 per day for a loss of 2 pounds per week.

Food allergies and intolerances can cause gas and bloating. But these need to be confirmed by your doctor. Many people self-diagnose these conditions and unnecessarily eliminate healthy dairy and whole grains from their diets. If you suspect you have an allergy or intolerance, see your doctor for tests.
Strongly encouraged, but not required. “The Flat Belly Diet” outlines an optional plan, including workout descriptions, intensity and duration. It recommends cardio exercise to burn calories and shed fat; strength training to build muscle and boost metabolism; and core-focused exercises to tone and tighten the midsection.

Fruit juices are good for you, but not the packaged ones. Packaged, bottled, or canned fruit juices are loaded with artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, and sugar. These are harmful for your overall health and should be avoided.
Insulin is the hormone that’s released when we consume carbohydrates. It helps take glucose (sugar) out of the bloodstream and brings it into cells to be used for energy. However, when too much glucose remains in the blood, it’s stored away for later use as body fat. If insulin is really out of whack, this fat storage can spiral out of control.
Foods that have thermogenic properties burn your calories as you eat them. Protein is highly thermogenic. Animal proteins are more thermogenic than vegetable proteins. Thus, lean meats are the best calorie burning food. When you eat lean meat, you burn about 30 percent of the calories it contains within it just by digesting the food. So, if you eat a 300 calorie chicken breast, you will use about 90 calories to digest it. It’s wise to include some protein in each of your meal. This can be lean chicken, beef, or pork, especially in dinner so that you burn most of the consumed calories through digestion at a time when your body’s metabolism is slower. Just remember, do not fry your lean meat!
Breakfast may be the most important meal of the day, but lunch definitely comes a close second. That’s because if you eat too little and you’ll end up reaching for that late afternoon pick-me-up; pile up your plate and the calories soon add up.
Another good thing about the book is that even if you know about nutrition and the proper way to eat, it can sometimes be difficult to do so. Some people do much better following a “diet” that provides all of the rules and regiment to stick to. This would be a good book for that type of person.
It is shown that drinking 4 cups of green tea daily could help reduce more than 6 pounds of fat and weight in just 8 weeks. This claim is approved by a lot of nutritionist and dieticians. In essence, this tea contains a kind of catechin known as EGCG which is a natural phenol and features with anti-oxidants with a lot of therapeutic applications. 6. Resistance training- many women think that weight training will make their bodies bulking. This is a myth, in fact weight training for women is one the best things they can do to lose belly fat naturally since it increases lean muscle. Every time you increase your muscle you increase your metabolism.
Hello! After having my son, I began counting calories and working out about 4 times a week. I did lose 20 lbs, but my stomach never got flat. I don’t want to lose too much more weight, but I would like to really get my stomach back flat. What can I do?
While you’ll need a well balanced diet to lose belly fat, you should zero in on three key nutrients — calcium, protein and fiber — as your fat-burning triple threat. Why’s that? Protein and fiber both make your food harder to break down, so you’ll burn more calories during digestion than if you eat foods low and protein and fiber. This is one of the only ways to really boost your metabolism, so make the most of it!
Latest studies reveal that having smaller and frequent meals is the key to maintain a healthy metabolic rate, which is important for weight management. So, reduce the size of your meals and make up for it by snacking healthy. You could consider having dry fruits and nuts, raw veggies or fruits, and steamed veggies.
